New Spring is a prequel to The Wheel of Time, following Moiraine Damodred and Lan Mandragoran around the time the Dragon Reborn is born. It explains how their paths first cross and adds background to the main saga. For a first read, follow publication order and read it after Crossroads of Twilight; it can also be read before book one on a reread.
